It's been a while, eh?

Those of you who frequent Blowcaine.com should notice a slight difference. It's bright now.

When I upgraded the forum software from SMF 1.0.9 to SMF 1.1.1 I also decided to change the look and feel of the site, and add some new features. Aside from the hundreds of improvements to the software itself, I added a few more things to keep the community busy. First, an Image Gallery: Open to everyone 25 posts and up, you can view, post, and comment on images posted all over blowcaine. So far only 4 categories, but there may be more as usage increases. Second, the Arcade: Play games, comment, keep track of high scores, and waste some time here. Available to all users 100 posts or more. Lastly, the Staff Page: Keep track of who is in charge, and contact them easily from here.

I've been prepping for the switch over for months, and even though it's a simple procedure that normally doesn't even require backing up your forum, Blowcaine being what it is--a temperamental little 13 year old girl on speed--you never know when a simple change is gonna send it over the edge. So first I started beta.Blowcaine.com up again, and practiced with some mods and updates with troy. Then I went to the secret admin cave, and did it by myself exactly the way it should be, 30 times over. After I got it the way I wanted it, I shut BC down for an hour, and moved it all over. Rather painless...

Some things I know about:

• It's light
• It's bright
• It's not dark
• It's not the SMF default theme
• It's hard to tell where there is a new post
• The Arcade rapes you when you lose via PM
• The Gallery... well... is perfect...
• The new nav bar sucks (I like it *tear*)

I'll get on that, and fix it afap.

As for the future, I'm excited. WBTY Radio has had an awesome two weeks, from the hours of 6-1 every night we've had something going on, and even some times before and after it! I have a few more DJs on deck, and some ideas in the works so keep your eyes open for that. Also, the qualities of the shows have jumped tremendously, good job everyone involved, and thank you guys who listen every night!

• Car Magnet
• New Gear
• PR Missions
• Live Contests
• Interviews
• Liners, Sweepers, and the like
• Revamped website
• Instant Feedback**

* A VPS is like a computer, all of the software from Apache, to mySQL, and Shoutcast needs to be installed by me. But it does give for more opportunities like a private chat server, streaming webcams, game server, and the like. We could also use the extra room to start a WBTY Podcast.

** I've been working on this web app to do the same thing FreeFM's Instant Feedback does, plus a few extra features. When I'm done all WBTY DJs will have access to it for their shows!

Plus, of course, a ton of other stuff that I've been wanting to do forever. New Shop being one of them~

In any event, that's a peek of some things to come. I know we've been discussing a meetup, but unfortunatly no realistic ideas have come across. We will get together one day, but we need a good location. The City, of course, being the central location and one of the better options. But space there is limited. Atleast till the summer~

well boys and girls i return to the world of blogging. things have changed much from last we meet. I now have myself a nice new laptop, i am still addicted to the MMORPG, Maplestory. So yeah, I gots me a new car. Well it's an old car. My old car, but it'll be a new one now. Wow that's confusing... Originally when I was to start driving I was going to get this 1988 Lincoln Town Car, but it was kinda busted. Now about two years later, I'm going to get this car and work on restoring it. It's going to be moved soon so I'm going to take pictures of it and find out exactly what's wrong and work form there. Once it's running and done, it's big and comfty, so I think some traveling is in order. New Jersy might be a good test for it.

Oogling the Choogle

We have been kinda busy lately... hehehe

Just ordered a handful of chooglin wristbands. We joked about it a while ago, but it seems like a cool thing to have. So the blowcaine.com shop will be selling them until you guys lose interest, or I run out. We also have a few other things in the works, but this isnt the time for that. ;)

Just wanted to let you all know we're alive, and doing stuff. This winter is going to be an interesting one for blowcaine and it's members... Let's just say it will be nice to finaly meet you all <3

Plug the hell out of the site no matter what! Even if your plugging it on it's self because you can never have to many plugs. Before version 2 of Blowcaine can be official, I need a few more things done. So far we have a new server, everything's been moved, and I upgraded the software. Next I need the new look, to launch WBTY, and impliment the last suprise.

What's the suprise? Well... I don't know yet. It can be a few things, all really fucking cool. But I have to see what is best to do now, and what's best to do on Blowcaine's bday. :p

I just got a new computer and it's the most awsomest ever! I started messing around with a PlayStation emulator and I finally have a good enough computer to run it! I brought said emulator to school on my jump drive and started playing Metal Gear Solid using a PSX controller adapter to use my real controller with it.

Now the part that actually warents this post.

I showed up late to class unprepared saying I would do the work, etc.

And I hear some one comment "didn't Nick do that?" or something to that effect.

Oh shit... I'm becoming a Wookie... Now I just need mad programing skills and a killer website.

Karma and Calenders

Just a quick update, check out the calender I added to the forum. It shows everyone's birthdays, some holidays, and random events. It also displays all events at the bottom of the forum index so you can see an overview of the next 7 days. I know, awesome. If that's not enough, you can make your own events in the calender, and it automatically creates a discussion thread for you in the forum of your choice! So if you guys have some upcomming concerts, or movies, or games start a thread and event about it right here!

Last, the Karma system. By clicking the [+] or [-] next to each post you can either add or remove credit to a person's Karma. This lets other members know what the community thinks about them. It's totally anonymous, and you can only give or take karma once every 12 hours per person. That will keep the abuse down a bit.

New Job for Deja

So as you all might have heard for the time being i have quit the internet radio show that I do called The Sass Hour. No longer will there only be a touch of class on Friday nights because with my new job there will be a touch of class every night.

My new job will consist of drinking almost everynight and spending some quality time with the best friends in the world, because honestly guys having to spend every friday night entertaining you was no fun at all.

The image to the left is just a chart of what I have going on right now in my life. Notice how friends/school/work/family are the smallest, and Blowcaine just happened to be the biggest. Most of the sites listed I'm not actually working on right now--even though I should be--and one of them I'm only hosting and offering advice, so it doesn't count as my project really. Some notes on those things on the bored;

• blowcaine.com -- Since I've only posted the link to this link on blowcaine, it would be redundant to explain it. But for those of you who are here via google/search, its my forum, sign up and post now kthx.

• thesasshour.com -- Deja's (internet radio personality/co-admin of blowcaine) official website for her show "The Sass Hour" currently broadcasting from TPSRadio.net. I should be working on this site alongside Troy666 (blowcaine staff), but everything I have worked on so far has looked like crap. I'll give it another try soon.

• junky4rd.net -- My own personal website. I use it as a sort of internet portfolio to host my work, and show it off. It's probably sporting the worst possible name I could have chosen to be used as a networking tool. Why? Because how can you verbally tell someone to visit a website where the 'A' has besubstitutedded out for a '4'? It's quiawkwardard, especially when I have to go into the history of l33t. Which I will not be doing now. I haven't updated it in a while, I should get on that.

• babiesdislikelousyfilm.com -- I plug this site like a madman, I love it. This is the website of Dead Baby Juggler (Kevin/DeadBJ/Blowcaine Staff by Owning Another Staff Member), he does movie reviews here, and a few other cool things. He's currently messing around with the layout, and will probably completely break away from the Blogger software and venture off into something much, much, much mfrighteningning. The real Internet, with real websites and code. *shudders* I just like to pluga lotalot, and I offer adviceSometimesimes. :p

• friends -- I a lot alot of people have them, they seem like fun. I should try and download a few one day.

• family -- I see them sometimes, normally between my room and the front door. That Wiki article says I should be doing more than just eating and fighting with them. Hmm.

• work -- Being a assistant manager at Laser Kingdom is difficult, it taa lotup alot of time, ana lot's alot of responsibility. I'm in charge of a crew of 3-4, and whether the parties go smooth or not is all on my head, the customers are my number one concern! [/sarcasm]

• school -- Changing schools for the third time. DeVry sucked, Gibbs kicked me out/I quit--all depending if you ask me or the school--and now I'll be attending Nassau Community. Third time's a charm?

• other web projects -- I'm woa lotg on alot of stuff besides what I listed just now, new features for blowcaine, other forums, games, and some small secret things. I just don't have time for anything anymore, and it's all getting neglected. The summer off has helped a bit, but I need atleast a few more years. ;__;

Why did I tell you all this? I like writing, and typing, and wasting your time. : )

Also, it helps me to get things out on paper, so I can look back in a few months and laugh about all the stuff I still need to do. If you're under the impression that I'm an optimist, or not a procrastinator you are greatly mistaken. This is a non-specific blog that I will be posting a few places, if you see it twice sorry, if not, look through those links above.
